EDMONTON – Bringing experience from a previous post-secondary institution is huge when an athlete comes in the MacEwan Griffins Athletics program.
To that end, Griffins women's volleyball head coach Chris Wandler has bolstered his roster with three transfer players for the 2025-26 season, the first being 6-foot-1 Douglas College left side Anna von Krosigk.
In her first post-secondary season (2023-24), she earned spots on both the first team all-stars and the all-rookie team in PAC West. Injuries hampered her 2024-25 campaign, but there is no question the outside hitter has the chops to contribute at the Canada West level.
"She's a reliable player, who can help give us some depth and probably can help out right away, and she's going to be here for three years," said Griffins head coach Chris Wandler. "It was no-brainer that a physical kid of her stature would be given an opportunity with our program."
The experience, leadership and relentless work ethic the Okanagan Mission Secondary product brings will fit in well with the Griffins' culture.
Wandler noted her game quickly stood out upon viewing; not only is her offence well established, but von Krosigk also was a big presence for the Royals in receptions and digs, showing her two-way ability.
"Just the physicality," he said. "She can put the ball away. She loves to be in the gym, she loves to train, she loves to compete."
