EDMONTON – With a keen ability to create offence, Airdrie's Ivy Kunn will be a welcome addition to the midfield on the Griffins women's soccer team next fall.
Recruited well over a year ago by head coach Dean Cordeiro (with her agency E&E announcing it in January 2025), the wait will soon be over for Kunn to don Griffins silks at the Canada West level.
"She's very offensively gifted – a technician on the ball," said Cordeiro of the 5-foot-5 Calgary Foothills product. "Her soccer IQ's off the charts and her 1v1 ability is next level."
Kunn scored perhaps the biggest goal of her life when she stepped up to the line for Team Alberta at the Canada Summer Games and made the decisive PK that sent them to a victory over Newfoundland & Labrador, punching their ticket to the semifinals.
Kunn came off the bench in three of Alberta's four games but started the semifinal against Ontario. Alberta lost on penalties to both Ontario and Nova Scotia and finished fourth.
She has a proven ability to score and create at every level she's played, most recently leading Foothills WFC in scoring during the 2025-26 indoor season with 11 goals in eight games.
"She makes everybody around her better," said Cordeiro. "She creates so much offence and drives play. On the dribble, you'd be hard pressed to find someone as skillful as she is.
"She's a great addition to the team that we're looking forward to seeing in action this fall."
