EDMONTON – Aiming to return to the playoffs after a thrilling season that saw them qualify for the Canada West post-season for a third time since joining the conference in 2014, the Griffins women's volleyball team will get it started on Oct. 23 vs. Winnipeg.
The 2026-27 schedule was dropped on Wednesday by the conference and it will give MacEwan 20 games to snare themselves in a playoff position when it wraps up Feb. 20.
"We are excited about the road ahead," said Griffins head coach Chris Wandler. "Every match on this schedule is an opportunity to learn, grow, and move closer to the program we aspire to become. Our team is motivated by the challenge of competing against the best in Canada West, and we're looking forward to representing MacEwan University with pride, passion, and purpose throughout the season."

Fans can catch all of the matches on Canada West TV Powered by BioSteel. Early bird pricing for the CWTV All-Access and Sport passes go on sale in early August.
New this season at MacEwan, on every home date, women's volleyball matches in the David Atkinson Gym will be played second.
Highlighting the schedule is volleyball's annual School Day game, set for Nov. 6 vs. UFV (12 p.m. men, 1:30 p.m. women). The Nov. 7 matches between the schools will also be early to coincide with MacEwan's Open House (1 p.m. men, 2:30 p.m. women).
Of course, UFV is the very opponent MacEwan's women's volleyball team has faced in the opening round of the playoffs twice in the past three years.
On Nov. 27-28, women's volleyball will have the gym to themselves, hosting Regina – which doesn't have a men's team – at 5 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. Griffins WVB will have a bye when the men host Manitoba Nov. 20-21 to balance the schedule out.
Cross-town rival Alberta visits Jan. 29-30, while the Griffins will wrap up the regular season at home vs. Calgary on Feb. 19-20.
The post-season begins Feb. 26-28 with the best-of-three Play-In round with quarterfinal series following March 5-7, setting up the Canada West Final Four tournament on March 12-13.
U SPORTS nationals will be hosted by the University of Toronto March 19-21.
