Powerhouse indoor track teams to be buoyed by home track advantage

EDMONTON – The powerhouse Griffins' indoor track teams are set up for success heading into the 2017-18 ACAC season.
Two out of three ACAC meets they'll compete in will be hosted by MacEwan University at the Kinsmen Fieldhouse.
The season will kick off with the MacEwan University Invitational, set for Jan. 27 and will close with the ACAC Championships, also hosted by MacEwan on March 9-10.
In between, the Griffins will compete in the second ACAC Grand Prix on the calendar Feb. 11 at SAIT.
Besides the obvious home-track advantage of hosting two events, MacEwan will be coming into the campaign with a ton of recent success under their belts.
The Griffins women's squad has won three of the last four ACAC team championships, including last season when they dominated the competition by claiming all the gold medals available in Lethbridge. Along the way, they laid waste to the ACAC record book, rewriting it several times in different events.
Despite also establishing records, MacEwan's men's team finished second a season ago, narrowly losing the team title to SAIT (by just six points). The Griffins are still searching for their first ACAC men's championship.
