EDMONTON – A pair of players who spent the 2025-26 season developing their game at The King's University in the ACAC are making their way to the Griffins men's soccer team next fall.
Samuel Inglis and Matthew Easaw will bring their talents to the Canada West ranks as transfers, bolstering the Griffins' defensive positions.
"They really wanted U SPORTS last year and we felt they needed a year or two at the ACAC level," said Griffins head coach Adam Loga. "So, they landed at King's. We've had a great relationship with King's, obviously with our roster cap here, it's where they could fit in and develop with the hopes of transferring in a year or two. The systems are pretty (similar). Hopefully this is another example of them doing just that."
King's was among the top teams in the ACAC last season with a 7-3-2 record and both Inglis and Easaw were key starters for the Eagles.
Both will be in the mix for playing time, likely along the Griffins' back line, but are key guys in the room, as well.
"Sam is a character guy," said Loga of Inglis– a Maurice-Lavallee grad – whose sister Kiera plays for the Griffins women's soccer team. "He'll do all the little things we need student athletes to do with ease. Hopefully that can transfer and be contagious throughout the room.
"He's here to help sustain and grow the culture here. Both on, and off the field as well, but that's his superpower is who he is as a person."
Easaw also brings talent to the defensive side of the ball and the coveted intangibles top student-athletes have. He's a graduate of Archbishop MacDonald.
"Matty has some versatility," said Loga. "We'll see where he fits in within our system, but he has the ability to play in the back three or in a pivot role for us. We'll have to see just how things shake down in training camp.
"We're looking forward to having both of them. They're both top students and great people."
