Bio
David Kapinga has been head coach of the Griffins men's basketball team since 2025 and will be heading into his second season at the helm of the program in 2026-27 ... Kapinga was previously an assistant coach with the University of Calgary Dinos ... He played for the Dinos from 2015-19, helping Calgary win a U SPORTS championship in 2018, where he was named tournament MVP ... As a player, Kapinga also helped the Dinos win three Canada West championships (2016, 2018, 2019), two U SPORTS silver medals (2016 and 2019) and one Canada West bronze (2017) ... Was named to the Canada West first all-star team in 2018-19, the third team in 2017-18 and won the University of Calgary's Male Athlete of the Year award in 2018.
